Falling leaves

Falling leaves drift like the petals of longing,
while I light a candle in these last cold days of Fall.
A flash of light in the night sky
and that breath of wind reminds me of you.
Ashes of this past love are the fallen leaves;
that familiar warmth is forever lost.

And yet these leaves continue to fall.
Shall I gather up the embers of love before winter;
can this love last the seasons?
These tears lament the end of a season;
let our love seep into oblivion.
But all I want is you by my side.

枫   (a song by Jay Chou)

(This song has been stirring my heart for awhile with its melody and lyrics. Never thought I’d be one to admire Chinese songs, but Jay Chou’s lyrics are quite poetic. That was my own interpretation / re-writing of the Chinese lyrics; it’s not a direct translation.)
