Soldier on

Sometimes all we can do
Is just to soldier on.
Take everything in our stride,
And shuffle on silently.
Let the sun beat down
And the rain pour
On our backs,
Looking down at our feet-
One step at a time.
We will get there,
Eventually.

Don’t hope for too much,
Nor for that pat on the back;
Don’t look too far,
Nor expect too much.
Just soldier on.
